Marousi (officially named "Amarousion") is located north of Athens and covers an area of 13 km². The population is 72,333 inhabitants according to the 2011 census, and the industrial zones of Marousi are home to many Greek and multinational companies. Apart from hosting many popular shopping malls, Marousi is also known for the O.A.K.A. (Athens Olympic Sports Complex) where the Olympic flame burned brightly in 2004.
