The tetART-on String Quartet of the State Orchestra of Athens presents the First String Quartet of the great composer Rachmaninoff at the Acropolis Museum on Friday, March 31, at 7 p.m.

tetART-on String Quartet at the Acropolis Museum

This is a creation that he completed at the end of his adolescence, with obvious references to Tchaikovsky. The program opens with Joseph Haydn's Second String Quartet, also known as "Thursdays". A work based entirely on the interval of the 5th, an interval that has been associated with purity, rigor and sometimes perfection. Finally, the Dodecanese Suite by Yiannis Konstantinidis uses themes based on Dodecanese dances, lending universality to the Greek tradition through its composer's virtuoso writing.
