The special concert entitled Ethos, based on the myths of Hercules, Theseus and Odysseus, their lives, passions and people, is coming to the Alternative Stage of ELLS on Friday 10 May, at 20.30.

In the concert, the distinguished Greek contralto Marita Paparizou interprets on stage the passions and exploits of the heroes to the music of Monteverdi, Heindel, Porpora and Gluck. She is accompanied by the orchestra Novarte Ensemble under the musical direction of the acclaimed Italian conductor Maurizio Colazzanti and the vocal ensemble Filii Notas under the direction of Maria Bazou. Fotini Papathanasiou and Giorgos Achladiotis have taken over the directorial supervision, while the soprano Rosa Kapon Poulimenou participates amicably.

The heroes Heracles, Theseus and Odysseus are the source of inspiration for a dramatized concert with thematic focus on the lives, exploits, passions and misfortunes of themselves and those around them. Marita Paparizou in a tour de force, with the friendly participation of Rosa Capon Poulimenou, is invited to interpret on stage, with the help of kinesiology, lighting and props, a multitude of male and female characters from the baroque opera panorama. So at one moment she can be the faithful Penelope and the next the angry Antiope, the sad Admetus or the enamored Theseus, the capricious Odysseus or the vengeful Circe. After all, the acrostic formed by the initial letters of the names of the heroes and the word Synergy accurately describes the concept that governs the concert, that is, the development of most manifestations of human character, morals. It is a special experience that unfolds the myth and allows, through the human voice and the music of the orchestra, to embody all the archetypes on stage.
