The Ersi's Gallery presents the cross-sectional exhibition of Vangelis Dimitreas and Michalis Parlamas entitled "Discipline".

Opening: Thursday, April 4, 2024, 19:30 – 22:00

"The exhibition records a line of continuity as works by Vangelis Dimitreas, visual artist and professor of an important workshop at the School of Fine Arts of AUTH between 1985-2002, converse with works of his student Michalis Parlamas from his recent as well as earlier production. Vangelis Dimitreas created abstract design works and small constructions. Emphasizing the understanding of an expanded design skill as the dominant quality that holds and conveys meaning in any visual system formed the open basis of information imparted to his students. For years he persisted in a dialogue with his teacher, Michalis Parlamas, after completing his studies at AUTH he continued to study painting at the postgraduate level at Central Saint-Martin and Univercity of East London.His aesthetic eclecticism uses the strict structure that "good design" gives to pass the rigor of his master's works in a postmodern jumble of symbols towards an explosive, colorful personal image that negates but also derives from his master's visual deposit."
