About

T.A.F./ the art foundation presents the project Imposters, which opens in its exhibition space on Tuesday, July 4, and hosts the works of a group of women who have chosen in the second year to be led in new ways and different creative fields. Although they made this transition following their obvious talents and inclinations, they are possessed by Imposter syndrome, trying to prove their worth again - in a much more special context.

Imposter syndrome or "imposter syndrome" is possessed by individuals characterized by an inability to internalize their achievements and a persistent fear of being exposed as a "fraud." Despite outward evidence of their ability, those with the syndrome remain convinced that they are frauds and undeserving of success.

The Imposters project is a mapping of creative women, who feel insecure in their new roles, trying to fulfill their professional vision. We singled out a mix of creative fields and disruptive careers to support these creators, normalize their experience, and showcase their work.

We are re-appropriating the word imposter from the -so common now- imposter syndrome, characteristic of modern women's professional development, but recognizing this common experience, we will attempt to confront it, reverse it and therefore overcome it.

The Imposters exhibition is a synthesis of works of engraving, poetry, photography, painting, embroidery and comics, accompanied by the respective transition stories of the creators, who left or paralleled the world of business and services and found themselves in their current creative fields.

These are works that talk about female empowerment, about the security we would like to feel in our bodies, about the freedom we want to characterize our thoughts, about the acceptance of enjoying our bodies and courageously articulating our speech.

So we travel to a universe where "imposters" accept themselves, claim their space, dare to experiment and express themselves in any field they wish, whenever and however they wish, regardless of background, age, gender, sexuality, often choosing to deal with the anxieties of this process with humor and self-sarcasm.
The works will be sold by the creators themselves.
