Blank Wall Gallery presents the photographic work of Chinese artist Yifan Shao entitled "Solo".

Hailing from China, Yifan is a musician, photographer, poet and painter based in Beijing and San Francisco. He currently lives in San Francisco where he is pursuing a bachelor's degree in music and composition at the Conservatory there. Because of his involvement in many art forms, he has collaborated with many artists. His work has been presented at the Center for New Music San Francisco, Foreign Cinema Modernism West Gallery, Gallery-O-Rama, Huntington Beach Art Center, Artly Mix Espaço Cultral, etc.

In all his works the means of expression are limited so as to smoothly reflect the subtle connections between the images that often resemble paintings. This work consists of three sections which have some common points in expression.

In the Soft section there is a pervasive sense of a soothing texture which works therapeutically on the soul of the artist and the spectators.

The Solo section consists of images that exude a calmness reminiscent of romantic piano works that have a balance and melody.

Finally, the Liberation section presents the liberation of objects when they lose their original role. This freedom is often the freedom that death brings. In this section we see photos of objects that are no longer useful and have become trash.
