The Skoufa Gallery presents the eleventh solo painting exhibition of Nikos Angelidis, curated by the art historian, Elisavet Plessa.

A total of 27 new works (oil paintings, works on paper and constructions) will be presented, which the artist created mainly from 2018 until today. A fully illustrated catalog accompanies the exhibition.

The painting of Nikos Angelidis is characterized by the skill of the realistic rendering of dreamlike images, the love for detail and the lack of linear or atmospheric perspective. In his new works, the narrative dimension of his painting is surpassed by the element of a deeply personal humor, expressed through the riddle and the riddle. In the same direction, his constructions are three-dimensional games of
of his pictorial imaginations.

As noted, among others, the curator of the exhibition, Elisavet Plessa, in her text for the catalog: " [...] An idiosyncratic humor dominates his new works, with the enigma as a vehicle. After all, Angelidis is not telling a story or a fairy tale. In each of his works, starting with the title, he silently poses a strange riddle, which the viewer is invited to solve by tracing the meticulous details of the image [...]".

Commenting on Nikos Angelidis' painting His Children's Room, the psychoanalyst Yiannis Vaitsaras writes in the catalog: "The magic in Angelidis' art is hidden in his unique way of giving a vivid and detailed image which, however, like in dreams, is incompatible with the rules of reality. It is expressed by real objects and situations that are connected to each other in a seemingly arbitrary way, something only the subconscious and fantasy can achieve."
