About

The Technochoros art gallery presents the exhibition "Alkibiades the awesome Child of Greece" by the French artist Baudouin Colignon at the Art Project Space. A source of inspiration for the French visual artist, who was Director of the design department at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan in Paris, is the novel by Babis Plaitakis "Alkibiades, Greece will not last...", which is published in Greece by Herodotos and France by L'Harmattan publications.

The exhibition consists of 8 vertical works of large dimensions, which in the upper part, have colorful images, which correspond to significant stages of Alcibiades' journey and in the lower part a series of photographs, from an excavation plan, which transport us to a mineral natural environment . In addition, a series of smaller works with Chinese ink on paper will be exhibited.

The inauguration will take place on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 7:30 p.m.

On the day of the inauguration, Baudouin Colignon will come to dialogue with
Babis Plaitakis, author of the book "Alkibiades, Greece will not last", who will give a lecture about the exhibition and the personality of Alcibiades.

The French visual artist says about the exhibition: "In the story of Babis Plaitakis, everything is very intense and carnal to the point of paroxysm in the final scene. This is the reason why I chose not to present any body in my work and focused exclusively on the objects that appear in the novel. To perceive life and its ups and downs solely from objects and consequences. In this lack
body, only the tunic of Alcibiades crosses all the images, a sign of his presence, going from power to death and from purple to the ultimate red of the blood-stained scene".

For his part, Babis Plaitakis through the lecture asks the questions: "Can an event change the course of History? Can a man who loves his country become a traitor? Both of the above questions are connected to the life of Alcibiades, the son of Cleinias who was born in Athens in 451 BC and murdered in Phrygia in 404.

The exhibition as well as the lecture are held under the auspices of the "Mara Karetsos" Culture & Science Center.

In addition to the program that follows, the exhibition can also be visited on Sundays and Mondays by appointment.
